Is Lucky Hank a Breaking Bad spin off?

No, Lucky Hank is not Breaking Bad spin off. “Lucky Hank” is a television series based on Richard Russo’s 1997 novel “Straight Man.” Starring Bob Odenkirk, it will premiere on AMC starting March 19, 2023.

This comedy-drama series was created by Paul Lieberstein and Aaron Zelman, two renowned American writers. It follows the life of William Henry “Hank” Devereaux Jr., chair of the English Department at a college with limited funding. Hank is going through a midlife crisis while his wife Lily struggles to make decisions for themselves; even as Vice Principal at her local high school, Lily feels uncertain about where life will take her.

In the show, Hank struggles to deal with life’s many difficulties. Within one week, he threatens a duck, suspects his wife is having an affair with the Dean of his college, laments that his secretary writes better fiction and gets injured by a feminist poet. Most of the action takes place at West Central Pennsylvania University in Railton, Pennsylvania, as Hank deals with daily issues on campus while maintaining his sense of humour throughout it all. Despite all this turmoil, viewers also witness glimpses into Hank’s chaotic life through humorous moments!

Bob Odenkirk, known for his roles in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul,” stars as Professor Devereaux in “Lucky Hank”. Other cast members include Mireille Enos, Olivia Scott Welch, Diedrich Bader, Sara Amini, Cedric Yarbrough and Suzanne Cryer.

Paul Lieberstein, best known for his work on “The Office”, and Aaron Zelman have created the TV show together. Executive produced by Odenkirk, Lieberstein, Zelman, and Mark Johnson (producer of “Better Call Saul”), among other popular shows, is Mark Johnson.

Where Does Lucky Hank Take Place?

William Henry “Hank” Devereaux is the head of English at a typical college in Pennsylvania. So “Lucky Hank” takes place at Pennsylvania college. Despite this position, Hank feels unfulfilled with both life and work; his only novel, which cannot even be found at the campus bookstore, doesn’t even make it onto campus. Overall, Hank feels like he needs to make more of an impact – professionally and personally – in both areas.
